Help Bradley become the Conservative Nominee for Cloverdale-Langley City!
Hello, My name is Bradley Bakken. I am 35-years-old and was born in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. I met my beautiful wife, Rachel in 2018 before getting married in August of 2023. I grew up in Langley's North community of Walnut Grove with my mother Patricia, father Mark, and younger brother Ryan. I had a great childhood before moving around the Pacific Northwest to pursue my dreams of being a hockey player. I have lived in Osoyoos BC, Seattle WA, and Calgary AB in pursuit of athletics and education. I have attended post secondary school at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Cloverdale-Langley City, Mount Royal in Calgary, and Trinity Western University in the Township of Langley. I graduated with a degree in Corporate Communications from Trinity Western University in 2016. Following graduation I became heavily involved in hockey coaching in both the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) and the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). I am currently the Owner, Manager, and Coach of the Langley Trappers Jr. A Hockey Club located in Langley's Brookswood community.
My wife Rachel is also from the Lower Mainland. She was born in Surrey BC, and grew up in the Fleetwood neighbourhood. She has two older brothers who now live with their families in Chilliwack. Rachel works as an Education Assistant at the Surrey Christian School Elementary Campus in Fleetwood. She was heavily involved in sports while growing up as well. She was a basketball, volleyball, and soccer player while in high school. She began her post education at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, BC. She then spent a year at Trinity Western University, before transferring to Kings University in Edmonton AB, to pursue her desire to play volleyball at the collegiate level. She graduated from Kings University with a Psychology degree.Rachel and I enjoy being outdoors; going on hikes, bike rides, and exploring our vast Canadian backyard. We welcomed a golden retriever puppy to our family named Honey this past December.
I am running for the Conservative nomination for Cloverdale-Langley City because I believe it is time for Canada to take back the way of life that has been lost under the leadership of Justin Trudeau and the Federal Liberals. Pierre Poilievre's common sense approach makes too much sense for the future of our nation. We as Canadians need to work together to resurrect the way of life we knew under the leadership of former Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Canadians are known to be hard working, caring, and free. Our cultured way of life is seemingly diminishing under the current government and a change needs to occur and it needs to occur now. During my adult life lead by the Federal Liberals of Canada, everything has gone up. Many of my peers cannot afford to live in the towns they grew up in, let alone think of purchasing a house anywhere in the country. Our nation was built on the contributions of hard working Canadians and the opportunity a person has to own a home and live a prosperous life. This way of life once a reality now but a hope and a dream for most young Canadians. WIth the increased cost of homes has also come to increased cost of oil and gas, common goods such as daily groceries, vehicles, public services such as bus and sky train fares, medication and clothing. The Federal Liberals believe taxes and more taxes is the solution to their out of control spending. Poverty and crime are also on the rise along with substance abuse. It is my desire to curb the Liberal habits of 'going up' with an effort places on bringing crime, and the cost of living, and commodities down to a standard of Canadian affordability.
Rachel and I are long time conservatives and align as well as believe in conservative values such as:
· Equality of opportunity
· Rights and responsibilities of families and free associations
· The Socio-economic diversity of Canada
· Respecting traditions while embracing differences.
· The rule of law
· The value and dignity of all human life

· The democratic process
· A federal system of government as the best expression of diversity in Canada
· English and French of equality of status.
· Freedom of individual Canadians to enjoy the fruits of their labour to the greatest possible extent.
· The freedom and right to own property
· Individuals should provide for themselves, their families, as well as their dependents, while the government aid those who require assistance and compassion
· A strong and worthy military
· The environment should be protected by each generation for the next generation
· Canada should accept its obligations among the nations of the world
· People should conduct themselves in an ethical manner and display integrity, honesty, and concern for the best interest of all

· Access to information
Why the conservatives?
I would like to earn the nomination to run with the conservatives because the conservative outlook of sovereignty aligns and I believe the conservative direction is the best direction for Canadians in 2024. Historically, Canada leans on the Conservative Party to clean up the Liberal mess brought on by over spending, under delivering that pushes this great country into a monumental deficit.
The Conservative Party believes the role of government is to:
i. protect the lives and property of its citizens;
ii. ensure equality of opportunity;
iii. foster an environment where individuals and private initiative can prosper;
iv. ensure the security of our nation’s borders and the safety of our citizens at home and abroad;
v. provide services to Canadians that cannot be provided more efficiently and effectively by individuals or by the private sector; and
vi. maintain and enhance national infrastructure.
Caring for one another is a distinctive characteristic of a Canadian. When we care for our neighbours, co-workers, clients, family, elders, veterans and friends everyone benefits and the gesture grows larger. it is important we continue the traditions set forth by our ancestors and veterans. It is important we never forget those who served and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We need to continually embrace Canada as a multicultural and multi-ethnic country, seeing the value in our differences and caring for customs cherished by fellow Canadians. To care is to be cared for while one act of kindness can make a world of difference.
A Common Sense Conservative uses sound, practical judgement concerning everyday matters. Common sense is a basic ability to perceive, understand, and judge on matters in a manner that is shared by nearly all Canadians.
To have common sense is to have 'good sense', as well as the ability to critically think for oneself with a purpose to create a sum brought forth by the collective voices, and minds of the party, derived from the greater nation.
As Canadians we should be committed to equality, opportunity, law, diversity, and the dignity of human life. we should be committed to growing our natural resources while also creating green spaces and clean energy allowing for the natural Canada of today to live on for many generations forward. Canadians should be committed to regaining our pride in the eyes of the foreign world as the compassionate and caring Canucks who have become beloved by most. Canada should make a commitment to growing our military to provide aid and peace keeping missions to areas suffering from natural disasters and civil wars while also doing our part to maintain the borders and defences of North America as a whole. I am committed to continually working towards making our community safe, clean, and a desired place to work as well as rest. I am committed to making our nation the best version of itself when viewed from multiple perspectives.
